Preventive Dentistry – Garland, TX
Where All Healthy Smiles Start
At Orbit Dental, our dental office is based on a simple philosophy: “Prevention is better than the cure.” In other words, rather than just fixing a dental problem, Dr. Lankupalli would rather stop it before it even begins! That way, you and your family can avoid little oral health issues, so they don’t have the chance to turn into bigger (and more expensive) ones later. To come experience the benefits of proactive dental care, contact us today.

Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
When you come to see us for a checkup and cleaning, we’ll not only be able to remove any harmful plaque and tartar from your teeth to prevent cavities, but Dr. Lankupalli will also have a chance to catch any dental decay or damage you might have during its earliest stages. This will allow her to take care of it right away while it’s still small and easy to treat. We recommend coming to see us at least every 6 months so we can stay on top of your dental health!
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer claims thousands of lives every year, and this is largely because the disease is very hard to detect early on, leading many patients to not be diagnosed until it is quite advanced. Nothing gets past our trained eyes, however, and we’ll perform a thorough oral cancer screening whenever you come to see us. If we spot any suspicious sores or growths in or around your mouth, we can organize for you to get a biopsy and diagnosis right away.
Nightguards for Grinding
Worn down teeth. Sore jaw. Chronic headaches. If these sound familiar to you, then you’re probably grinding your teeth while you sleep, which is known as bruxism. Over time, this can wear down your enamel to the point that your teeth actually fracture, and that will certainly cause you to lose some sleep! Instead, we can help patients rest easy by having them wear a custom-made nightguard to bed, which will prevent their teeth from coming together during the night.
TMJ/TMD Diagnosis & Treatment
One often overlooked part of oral health is the condition of the jaw joint, or TMJ (temporomandibular joint), which is what enables your jaw to actually move. It can sometimes become strained and/or misaligned, leading to a TMJ disorder (TMD), and common symptoms include a stiff and painful jaw, frequent headaches, and even pain in the neck and shoulders.
Dr. Lankupalli always examines the TMJ during routine appointments, and if a patient is experiencing problems, she can get to the root of the issue and provide a number of therapies designed to relieve pain and improve overall function. These include the use of a therapeutic oral appliance, adjusting the teeth to rebalance the bite, massaging tense muscles with a TENS machine, or injecting Botox to relax spasming muscles.
